The Menai Straits Bridge to Anglesea from Bangor. |
Before the trip started, I took the opportunity to climb Snowdon. |
I started in the village of Llanberis, down below. |
A long way to go... |
That's the easy way up! Also rather too expensive for my liking. |
At this point the going got steep, and gravelly. |
The views were worth the pain! |
The start of the steep section is in the centre of the photo, coming across to the right. |
A view out to the east. |
The Snowdon Horseshoe, which I returned to a few days later on a project. |
The summit's in sight. |
2 hours 50 minutes of trudgery later, I reached the top :-) |
It was very windy, which is why I'm not standing up straight... |
The next day, the fieldtrip started in Cwm Idwal, a glacial corrie near Snowdon. |
A mountain pass on the way back. |
As human geographers, we drew the long straw by spending a day in Llandudno! |
Pretty arduous, eh? |
I couldn't resist taking a photo of this badgerific establishment. |
Hmm... the next day, it was back to Snowdon in the rain. |
What a miserable lot we are - but it was cold and wet and most of us were ill! |
I stand corrected: it was snowing as well. |
The first lake we reached, 15 minutes from the bottom. Long way to go... |
Looking over towards the pass pictured earlier. |
The main glacial lake in the Horseshoe. |
