The Bahnhof in Görlitz. The train to get here took AGES (and I had to queue to get my passport checked as well). |
This isn't the nicest part of the town! |
Getting to the main square. |
This is like English market squares in design: wide in the middle and narrow at the ends to stop cattle escaping! |
Heading into the narrower part now. |
It's pretty quiet - but then it was a rainy Monday morning. |
The massive church can be seen from a long way off. |
Görlitz is right on the Polish border - that's it! |
This footbridge was opened at the same time as Poland joined the EU. |
The Polish side has a little way to go to catch up... |
Cobbles a-plenty. |
Alleys a-plenty too. |
It's an up-and-coming tourist destination, apparently. |
It is very nice, I have to say. |
You saw it here first! |
I'm now heading back towards the town centre. |
Bizarrely, there aren't any actual shops around here. It took me ages to find something to eat and drink! |
But then I hopped on a train to Dresden. |
I just had two hours here between trains and had a quick look around. |
My mobility was restricted, as I had all my luggage and one arm in a sling. |
This is the centre of Dresden - annoyingly far from the Hauptbahnhof. |
Looking around... |
...and heading back. |
